This week is occupational therapy week where we celebrate all the fabulousness of occupation. Occupations are all the activities that occupy our time and for most people education, training and work fills a huge part of our days and our lives. To successfully work, or go to school/college however we have to be able to do lots of other occupations; we need to be able to wash and dress, we may need to organise our kids or other people we care for, we have to get to work (if we aren't a remote worker) so have to drive, walk or get transport. Occupational therapists consider all of these things (and a lot more) when helping a person return to or remain in work/education because we know that we need these foundations for a successful outcome. Let's celebrate occupational therapy this week for the unique profession that it is!
